Gululu Postcard Collection
€12
Pack of 10 different 15x10cm postcards featuring images from the Joseph Darmanin Gululu collection.
The collection of Joseph Darmanin (1922-1973) contains over 1,700 print photographs taken in the 1950s and 1960s around Malta. These images provide a fascinating insight into the life of this eccentric character, nicknamed Gululu, and his group of inimitable friends.
Well known among his generation for his love of cars, motorbikes and the good life, Gululu spent his time around St Julians and Sliema, often taking trips with friends to the continent. A prolific photographer and amateur filmmaker, Darmanin’s story is still being uncovered by Magna Żmien.
The collection was kindly shared with Magna Żmien by Paul Caruana. Within this collection are a number of photographs taken by his friend, Albert Caruana, which we are in the process of identifying and attributing.
